Table XI tops best Chicago tech companies lists — and a few national

We work closely with our peers, so we know what an honor it is to make any list of best Chicago tech companies. It’s stiff competition — there’s a lot of talent here. That’s why we’re so proud to see several of our practice groups, and our podcast, rank at the top of industry.

Table XI named best software development company in Chicago

Thanks to your reviews, we got quite the honor this week when Clutch released its best of lists for Chicago tech. The company — basically a Yelp for service providers — ranked Table XI the best software development company in Chicago and the best Ruby on Rails development team in Chicago. Our mobile team also made quite the showing, placing fourth for mobile development in Chicago and fifth for iPhone-specific development (though we’re mostly working cross-platform in React Native these days.)

Table XI Is an Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Company!

5000_color-stacked

I’m very proud to announce that Table XI has landed a spot on the Inc. 5000 list for fastest growing private companies for 2013, coming in at No. 2114 (for reference, there are roughly 28 million small businesses operating in the US).

This is a true honor for us, given that we’re rounding out our 11th year in business. It’s a testament to our team and their work, as well as to our amazing clients, many of whom have been with us from the beginning.

Inc. Editor Eric Schurenberg put it well when he said that, "Not all the companies in the Inc. 500 | 5000 are in glamorous industries, but in their fields they are as famous as household name companies simply by virtue of being great at what they do. They are the hidden champions of job growth and innovation, the real muscle of the American economy.” That’s what I’ve always loved about being an entrepreneur in this industry—it’s not always splashy, but we have the chance to make a difference for clients in both small and big ways by always striving to embrace innovation and come up with smart, creative solutions to problems. Being awarded a spot in the Inc. 5000 is proof that our methods for growing a business work.

Fuhu tops this year’s list, and we join other prominent brands like LivingSocial, Edible Arrangements, CDW, and Lifelock. In a stagnant economic environment, the companies on this year’s list report having created over 520,000 jobs in the past three years, and aggregate revenue among the honorees reached $241 billion. We’re honored to be in such fine company.

Check out the full Inc. 5000 list at Inc.com/inc5000, and thanks again to all who made this possible.

Congratulations to our lunch chef Aram Elie, who last month took home first place honors at a cooking competition hosted by local wine bar Paola’s Vinum.

Herewith, the winning recipe. Enjoy!

1 red onion, finely diced
3 stalks celery, finely diced
1 bunch Swiss chard: stems, finely diced; greens, roughly chopped
½ c golden raisins
¼ c pine nuts or slivered almonds
¼ c lemon juice
¼ c balsamic vinegar
olive oil
salt
pepper
1 baguette, cut into ¼ in. slices
fresh Parmesan cheese, grated

  1. Preheat oven to 375°.
  2. Season eggplant with salt, pepper, and olive oil and roast until tender, about 20-25 minutes.
  3. Saute red onion, celery, and chard stems in olive oil until tender, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add greens to the saute pan and cook until wilted, about 5 minutes, then add eggplant.
  5. Stir in raisins, nuts, lemon juice, and balsamic vinegar and simmer a few minutes until the flavors blend. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Drizzle baguette slices with olive oil, salt, and pepper, and toast in oven until golden brown.

TXI in the press

In March, Medill Reports wrote a piece about us, Tech consulting firm does well by feeding well. The article profiles who we are and some of our more atypical but positive practices, like our $5 daily time sheet bonuses and in-house lunches. There's even a video of Ellen preparing one of our favorite meals.

Table XI replaces the award-winning Chicago Dryer web site with a new…. web site

On the eve of the launch of the new Chicago Dryer web site, Chicago Dryer’s OLD site won an “industry’s best web site” award at the 2007 Clean Show in Las Vegas.

Marketing Director Carol Tyler was able to get up on stage, accept the award and tell the assembled audience “oh, by the way, we’re launching a new site as we speak.” Money cannot buy moments like these.

Congratulations to all involved especially Rich, Jordan, Carol, Anthony and the two Steves.
