What a fabulous list. As a web designer while I am passionate about what I do I think that passion remains alight because of all of the other things I do. In the last year I have renovated a house making friends with a drill and being constantly covered in paint. On top of that I managed to make a trip to the UK and had fun in the sun in Florida. Looking forward to more adventures in 2012

There is a typographical error in Greg Baugues' entry. He says he had an opportunity to give a "lighting" talk. What I think he meant to say was "lightning" talk.

Hi Tim,

Great question!

I think launching with a free version allows you to collect data and iterate on your product before dumping money into advertising.

HOWEVER

If you are bootstrapping. Start with focusing on paying customers and leverage adwords to help you find your customers.

nice blog post!

Rishi - I like the idea of launching with a free model to get data... what are your thoughts on focusing on paying customers from day one and launch using adwords?

Just purchased my first paid theme from StudioPress and I'll probably never go back to free ones. In the scheme of things the added features, support, and ease make it a no brainer for the relatively low costs.

The best password manager is RoboForm. No offense but everyone knows that, that's why its the world's best and has had the most downloads. I don't trust any of these other password managers! When LastPass was hacked I went to Robo and never looked back.
