Who They Are?

The Spice House is a family-owned spice merchant. They import and sell the highest quality herbs and spices from around the world through their four retail locations, catalog, and website.

What Was Needed?

The Spice House web site was antiquated, unmanageable, riddled with broken links and lacked effective process management behind the scenes.  

What Did We Do?

We architected and built a new web site with a comprehensive content management system to maintain their 1,400 SKUs and database of over 500 customer-submitted recipes. We automated credit card processing and built an online order-processing portal complete with updated pick-and-ship functionality integrated directly with UPS.

We implemented web analytics and customized reporting to give The Spice House new insight into the purchasing patterns of the customers and helped them to use this data to predict inventory requirements for each year’s holiday rush.

We helped The Spice House to improve their customer communications and began a campaign to send postal mailers to high-value customers to foster and maintain relationships.

What Were the Results?

Spice House online sales have increased 30% per year for the past three years since we released the site. They have also significantly reduced order processing time, errors and costs allowing them to improve margins while simultaneously increasing volume.

We continue to host their environment and support their growing online business more than three years after our initial engagement.
