Erik Schwartz
Software Developer

Erik is our resident software development swingman, jumping in to assist on a variety of projects. With a decade of professional experience under his belt, Erik is known to hold forth about the importance of encapsulation, abstraction, and automated testing. A strong believer in the power of frameworks and design patterns, he considers robust polymorphism to be (nearly) as beautiful as a Costa Rican sunset.

Prior to joining Table XI, Erik served as principal web developer and technology consultant for record retailer Dusty Groove America. There he developed both a large e-commerce site as well as an appreciation for musical genres he never knew existed, like “Out Sound” and “Deep Funk.” He learned the fundamentals of software engineering at Oberlin College and earned a B.A. in computer science with a minor in Hispanic studies.

When Erik came for his initial interview at Table XI, we were duly impressed with his education and experience, but we were really blown away by his Dr. Scholl’s Velcro shoes, evidence of his distinctive sense of style. Erik claims weird clothing helps him write weird music, which he spends much of his time doing. He and his lovely wife, Smith, like to cruise around Chicago on their tandem bike and dress up at Halloween as Eddie and Alex Van Halen (the “Jump” era).
